The grapple opens to 52".  To hold anything securely in the grapple, it must close at least 10".  Besides stones, one can handle logs, brush and logging residue with these grapples.

  • Quality grapples have jaws that are made of Hardox steel, and have wear plates.
  • Every joint in a Valby grapple has a grease fitting and a bronze bushing.
  • The Valby grapples have powerful cylinders with heavy pistons.
  • Twin connection rods provide good balance and less stress.
  • A belly plate protects the cylinder from below.
  • The Valby grapples are of modern bypass grapple design that support the log from underneath and both sides.
  • The jaws close to a tight minimum opening.
  • The SG52HD has a sturdy mounting plate.  We recommend the R45 rotator, but the grapple can also be used with the R6 or R30 rotators.
  • The Grapple is a bypass design, which enables controlled release of the load.
  • The Grapple has a cylinder piston that is 1.96" in diameter.

wpe46.jpg (23494 bytes) The SG52HD is an excellent tire grapple.   The form of the jaws is such that when the grapple is opened to its full 52" reach, the jaws are vertical, and therefore penetrate easily into piles of debris, such as tires.
